Electrical Engineer

Position: Electrical Engineer
Schedule: 40 hours, Monday - Friday
Essential Job Functions:
-
Design, code, implement, test, and verify the software on embedded devices and systems
-
Design and/or work with outside design teams to design new embedded systems
-
Design electrical control, signaling, and display systems
-
Test and debug physical PCB with multimeters, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzer.
-
Support the company’s growth by designing custom control, signaling, and display products for new market segments
-
Specify electrical components to be used and estimate costs for control, signaling, and display systems
-
Provide electrical and software technical support to customers as needed, typically by phone
-
Design, document, integrate, and troubleshoot electrical and software systems and subsystems from concept to delivery.
-
Using computer-assisted engineering and design software to perform engineering tasks.
-
Interface with customers and produce a final/manufacturable design from customer drawings and concepts
-
Manage multiple design projects at a time to meet customers' timelines
-
Interpret customer drawings and technical requirements and work with customers to resolve design issues.
-
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
-
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, or Associate’s degree with 5-7 years of relevant experience

Experience in programming embedded controllers
-
Experience with standard building automation protocols: BACnet MS/TP, BACnet IP, Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU, and Ethernet
Skill Requirements:
-
Proficient in Autodesk design software AutoCAD, Eagle, and AutoCAD Electrical.

Microcontroller and microprocessor experiences including firmware programming, I2C, SPI, RS232, and RS485.

Experience in programming languages: C/C++, C#, Python, and HTML.

Experience in designing multilayer PCB aith optimized layouts.

Apply fundamental design principles and practices.

Must have a positive attitude, be a self-starter, and be an able problem solver.

Investigate and resolve product design issues

Work cross-functionally at all levels of an organization.

Communicate technical information

Read, develop, and understand electrical schematics, engineering prints, and specifications

Experience designing electrical circuits for embedded controllers and control panels.

Experience with embedded code programming.

Experience with communications protocols, BACnet, Modbus, and Ethernet.

Experience with Building Automation Controls and PLC controls.

Experience with PCB design and layout.

Position: Design Engineer/Project Management
Essential Job Functions:
-
Develop control panel solutions for customers, based on customers' needs and interests.

Facilitate customer meetings to determine customer needs and drive sales with new and existing customers in the Building Automation Industry.
-
Identify prospective customers by asking for referrals, using directories, following leads from existing clients, participating in industry organizations, and attending trade shows and conferences. Contact prospective customers to demonstrate products and explain product features. Demonstrate technical selling skills and product knowledge.

Prepare and deliver technical presentations to explain company products, services and solutions to prospective customers. Recommend new and improved products and components to customers.
-
Collaborate with other engineers to evaluate needs for equipment, resources and tools that will support customer solutions.
-
Meet with and support sales teams in gathering information about customer needs and requirements.
-
Identify labor, best materials, and time requirement by studying specifications, RFPs, blueprints, drawings, and related documents. Prepare price proposals.
-
Answer customers' questions about products, prices, availability, product uses, and credit terms.
-
Manage customer satisfaction through quality checks, on-site visits, and other follow-up activities. Report to Management and Sales Team.

Monitor market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' products, prices, and sales. Report to the Sales Team.

Supports applicable tradeshows.

Conduct sales calls to customers and prospective customers.
-
Conduct research and help guide new product development and marketing efforts based on feedback from customers, distributors or marketplace information.

Assist in the implementation of company sales and marketing plans.
-
Willingness and ability to travel up to 20% of the time.

Accept other responsibilities as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience or, Associate's degree with 10+ years of relevant expereince

5 years of building automation controls design experience
-
UL 508 Control Panel Design knowledge is a plus
-
UL 864 UUKL, UL 508, and UL 519 specifications knowledge is a plus
-
Prior outside sales experience is a plus
-
Understanding of electrical control panels, electrical circuits, and embedded controllers is a plus

Experience with communications protocols, BACnet, Modbus, and Ethernet a plus

Experience with Building Automation Controls and PLC controls is a plus
-
Proficiency with Microsoft Office - including Outlook, Word, and Excel

Must present and communicate in a confident, professional manner

Time management skills

Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision

Must possess excellent problem solving, organizational, and communication skills.

Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to effectively communicate with customers and team across the organization.
