Solving the Most Pressing I/O Challenges
In the world of Input/Output (I/O), systems are essential to modern industrial automation, but they face a number of persistent challenges. Challenges such as:
● Space constraints
● Complex wiring and installation
● Scalability and flexibility
● Integration difficulties
● Latency and performance bottlenecks
● General reliability and environmental stress
Insert Automation Displays Inc. (ADi) new high density I/O system the zIOn Controller. The most compact, reliable and scalable remote I/O system for critical building needs.
Technical & Professional
The zIOn Controller Remote I/O System delivers industry-leading I/O density and flexibility. It’s the only UL 864 (pending) listed system of its kind, supporting up to 5120 I/O points and 64 expansion cards such as LEDs and switches total. With proven durability, flexible configuration, and support for BACnet IP, BACnet MSTP, Modbus RTU, Modbus ACII, and Modbus TCP, the zIOn Controller is engineered to simplify complex projects across life safety, automation, and industrial markets.

Key Features & Benefits of the zIOn Controller
Featuring UL 864 (pending) listing for life safety applications, the zIOn Controller also supports up to 2560 LEDs and 2560 switches (depending on protocol), 64 expansion cards, an I/O base requirement of 80, an ATMEL ATSAME53J20A @ 120 MHz processor, among others. Other key benefits include:
● Highest I/O density in a compact design
● Scales easily without custom panels
● Drastically reduces wiring
● Fast and simple installation
● Unmatched durability for critical applications
● Adaptable across multiple industries and environments
● Reduces inventory and configuration
● Complies with the most rigorous safety standards
● Reliable operation under heavy workload
Industry Versatility
Engineered for versatility, ADi’s zIOn Controller is trusted across a wide range of mission-critical environments—including fire safety, smoke control, healthcare, security, oil and gas, and data centers. Its compact form factor, high I/O density, and broad protocol support make it the ideal choice for complex applications where reliability, flexibility, and compliance are non-negotiable. Whether safeguarding lives or optimizing infrastructure, the zIOn Controller adapts seamlessly to meet the unique demands of each industry.
zIOn Controller Launch
With UL 864 currently pending and approval date to be determined, ADi is preparing for the official launch of the zIOn Controller. However, it is already available for integration into non-UL 864 listed panels and projects. This early availability allows forward-thinking customers to begin leveraging its industry-leading density, scalability, and protocol compatibility in applicable applications today, ensuring they stay ahead of project timelines while positioning themselves for future compliance.
